Did you know that over three million whiplash injuries occur each year resulting from motor vehicle crashes? Of these whiplash injuries, 500,000 people will develop chronic pain, and up to 300,000 will have some degree of disability. Apart from the effect on health, there’s a significant cost to society. Approximately $43 billion of total annual HARM is attributable to whiplash and related injuries. (HARM is a metric for quantifying the total societal cost of road trauma.)
Dr. Albright, car accident chiropractor of Brain and Spine Clinics in Bellingham says consumers need to be educated about the issues surrounding whiplash – both concerning its treatment and, importantly, its prevention. In order to more effectively treat persons injured in motor vehicle crashes, Dr. Albright recently became Advanced Certified in Whiplash Injury Biomechanics and Brain Traumatology through the Spine Research Institute of San Diego (SRISD), a research center devoted to the investigation of motor vehicle crash injury. For the past 28 years, SRISD has focused research and education on the more common injuries sustained in everyday motor vehicle crashes, such as whiplash and mild traumatic brain injuries.
As part of this intensive 60-hour training program, Dr. Albright became familiar with the epidemiology of whiplash and brain injuries, the mechanical factors of motor vehicle crashes, and the wide range of physical injuries and clinical conditions that can occur. He learned how to conduct comprehensive physical examinations and all about the latest applications of cutting edge imaging technologies such as CT, MRI, single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) and others. Dr. Albright learned how to provide patients with the most effective and comprehensive treatment and rehabilitation strategies to ensure optimal outcome potential. The program also included an intense discussion of forensic risk analysis which considers how the various known risk factors can increase a person’s chance for injury or long-term symptoms.
“By understanding the unusual biomechanics of this form of trauma, diagnostic methods and treatment can be much more effectively administered in the clinical setting,” said Dr. Albright.

"Dr. Albright is an exceptionally intuitive and detailed chiropractor. I went to him several years ago with a dislocated rib. During initial examination he asked about general health and I mentioned issues with vision and migraines. 6 months later, and not only were my ribs back where they should be, but I had gone from a migraine a month to a couple a year. With exercises based in functional neurology, I also experienced improvement in my vision and literally saw a reduction in my prescription eye-wear."
"Dr. Albright was a miracle worker. He knew what was going on with my body after I banged my head pretty good a few weeks before. He ran a diagnostic on me and explained what was going on and gave me my treatment options and helped my recover. Thank you, Dr. Albright I will be recommending you to anyone I can think of!"
After years of dealing with debilitating health issues while Doctors were only treating symptoms, but not finding the cause. I found Dr. Albright and he was able to explain my symptoms in a way that was clear and concise. Going to Dr. Albright has been a very validating and empowering experience. I have hope for the first time in years that I will get better and have the life I want to live without the debilitating symptoms stopping me. I’m so thankful to have found someone who can problem solve and doesn’t give up on a challenge till they find the answer. I would recommend him to all my friends and family.
" I began seeing Dr. Albright when I felt like I had hit a wall after multiple providers said they did all they could for me. I remember watching videos on head injuries and chiropractic neurology and thinking that it could be exactly what I needed.... I did not have anywhere else to turn and was on the verge of giving up.... ... I had problems with dizziness, migraines, and other problems likely related to significant head trauma, like having a ceiling fall on my head and hitting a deer going 50mph, which led to a couple spine surgeries and other medical concerns. During the initial appointment with Dr. Albright, I felt like he was thorough, compassionate, and offered a plan that would work for me. He noted that there was significant soft tissue damage, in addition to the issues that I had with bulging discs, stenosis, and post-concussive syndrome... I am blessed that I was able to receive care from Dr. Albright. I believe that he helped get me on a path to wellness and I know that I would not be where I am today if it weren’t for him."
" I first met Dr. Albright when I was working in the personal injury legal field and had many of our clients report fantastic results after treating with him for their injuries. I began referring more of our clients to him and continued to hear wonderful things about his bedside manner, knowledge, compassion, and results. A few years later, I was in the middle a four car pileup and was badly injured. I didn't hesitate and presented to Dr. Albright for care. He was patient, effective, and professional and I soon realized why so many clients had raved about him as a medical professional. I treated with him for about three months and was able to go back to my normal life, working out again, taking on my full work schedule etc. I am a big fan of Dr. Albright's and would highly recommend him both on a personal level (if needing treatment for yourself), and a professional level (if needing to refer others for care).
